DIVING MENJANGAN &
SNORKELING MENJANGAN

Part of West Bali National Park, Menjangan Island was Bali’s first internationally known diving location. Famous for wall-diving with easy conditions, Menjangan Island is an easy, picturesque 30 minute ride by local boat from our Karang Dive Centers. These spectacular sites offer warm waters with stunning visibility that can reach 50m+. The island’s white sandy beaches also provide colorful, well-protected snorkeling opportunities. On the Menjangan dive sites, walls go from 10 to 60m+ and are full of nooks and crannies, overhangs and crevices -- abundant with soft corals, sponges, and Bali’s highest concentration of gorgonian sea fans (some with pygmy seahorses!). The fish life is prolific and turtles are regular visitors. Although whale sharks may be sighted, pelagic species are fairly rare here as the island is protected from the cold ocean currents that run through some other Bali dive sites.

SECRET BAY

Secret Bay Gilimanuk – known as Secret Bay in Bali’s dive community – is the only bay off the narrow Bali Strait where currents can reach 7 knots. Secret Bay Currents A reef lying just outside the mouth of the bay creates a channel through which these waters are swept. This means the bay basically acts as a massive catch tank (a big underwater nursery!) for many larval fish. These strong tidal currents mean the fish and invertebrates are extremely healthy, colorful and well-fed. It also means the water is quite cold, around 20-25°C, and is what makes Gilimanuk an extremely appealing dive site for macro photographer.
